Auchi Polytechnic is gearing up to welcome athletes and officials from across the country as it hosts the 22nd National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and Nigeria Polytechnic Senior Staff Games, with organisers promising an atmosphere of excitement, energy and excellence.
The week-long competition, popularly known as NIPOSSGA, is scheduled to open on 6 December at the Auchi Polytechnic Sports Complex under the leadership of the institution’s Acting Rector, Dr Salisu Shehu Umar. Thousands of participants from polytechnics and technical institutions nationwide are expected to converge on Edo State for what has become one of the largest staff sporting events in Nigeria’s tertiary sector.
Organisers say the opening ceremony, set for 2 p.m., will showcase a colourful display of culture, sportsmanship and inter-institutional camaraderie. The Games are designed to promote unity, physical fitness and professional bonding among senior staff across Nigeria’s polytechnic system.
“This is more than a competition, it is a celebration of strength, skill and friendship,” an official said, adding that Auchi Polytechnic is fully prepared to deliver a memorable tournament.
With events spanning athletics, ball games and indoor sports, NIPOSSGA remains a key platform for deepening cooperation within the technical education community while inspiring a healthier workforce.
As the countdown enters its final days, anticipation is building across campuses nationwide. For Auchi Polytechnic, the Games offer not only a chance to host but an opportunity to reaffirm its place as a leading institution committed to excellence in education, service and sports.
