The Wealthy Dwelling Place of the Most High Ministry has concluded a three-day Easter Revival and Fasting programme in Benin City, Edo State, aimed at spiritual renewal and empowerment, particularly for widows.
Held from 17th April 2025, the event was themed: “Raise Up a Battle Cry Against the Evil Altars of Your Father’s House”, drawing scriptural inspiration from 1 Kings 13:1-5. The convener, Prophetess (Mrs) Ann Okodugha, led participants through fervent prayers, teaching that foundational family issues often form the root of spiritual battles.
In a symbolic gesture of spiritual warfare, the widows, dressed in black, gathered in solemn unity, signifying a collective stand against ancestral oppression and familial curses. Citing Jeremiah 9:10, Prophetess Okodugha urged attendees to seek divine intervention through persistent prayer and self-deliverance, particularly for their children and families.
Beyond its spiritual focus, the event also incorporated various recreational activities to promote physical well-being and mental health. A highlight was a friendly football match featuring the widows, all clad in green and black kits.
Though the game ended in a goalless draw, a penalty shootout added excitement, culminating in a 2-1 win for one side. Cheers and laughter echoed as the women relished the lively atmosphere.
Prophetess Okodugha, who is also known for her humanitarian work, underscored the importance of engaging in such activities, noting their value in boosting morale and reinforcing community bonds. “These moments of joy are healing in themselves,” she remarked.
Other features of the programme included recitations in Edo language, proverbs, comedy skits, motivational talks, and inter-house sports contests, all aimed at reinforcing cultural pride and communal togetherness.
Some widows expressed gratitude for the experience and prayed for the continuity and expansion of the programme in years to come.
The Easter revival not only provided spiritual nourishment but also created a space of joy and hope — a memorable period for all in attendance.
