New Technical Manager Urges Discipline, Unity Ahead of Rivers United Clash
Newly appointed Technical Manager of Bendel Insurance Football Club, Kennedy Boboye, has officially resumed duties with the Benin Arsenal, taking charge of his first training session on Wednesday morning at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
The two-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champion with Plateau United and Akwa United wasted no time getting to work, as he supervised drills before moving the players into a closed camp ahead of next week’s crucial home fixture against Rivers United.
Addressing the players and backroom staff, Boboye charged them to put the club and Edo State Government’s interests above personal gain, stressing that discipline, teamwork, and patriotism were key to reviving Bendel Insurance’s fortunes.
“We must all be alive to our responsibilities and embrace mutual respect to rebuild team spirit and a winning mentality,” Boboye said. “I have been engaged to take this club out of its current position, but I cannot do it alone. I need everyone’s cooperation to succeed.”
The former Heartland FC and Sunshine Stars gaffer expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received from the management and promised an inclusive leadership style.
“I appreciate the warm welcome. Together, we will restore confidence and bring back the winning culture that Bendel Insurance is known for,” he added.
Boboye’s appointment came just a day after the club announced the suspension of former head coach Greg Ikhenoba, following a string of poor results that left the Benin Arsenal struggling near the lower end of the NPFL table after a 1–0 home loss to Nasarawa United in matchday seven.
With the experienced tactician now at the helm, expectations are high among fans and management that Bendel Insurance will rediscover their form and begin their climb back to the top of Nigerian football.
