During a session held on Monday morning at the Zamfara State House of Assembly, a group of seven members came together to take action against the sixteen legislators who had posed a threat to impeach the House Speaker, Bilyaminu Moriki, during the previous week’s session.
The seven members, who represented a minority of the assembly’s total membership of twenty-four, voted unanimously to suspend the sixteen legislators from their positions.
The move was seen as an attempt to quell the escalating tensions within the assembly, which had been building up for some time.
The suspended legislators were accused of violating assembly rules and regulations, and it was further reported that they had been involved in activities that were deemed to be detrimental to the interests of the assembly and the state as a whole.
The suspension was expected to last for a period of time, during which the suspended legislators would be barred from participating in any assembly activities or holding any official positions.
