Adejuwon Soyinka, a well-known journalist and the West African Regional Editor of the Conversation Africa, was apprehended by the Department of State Security Service (DSS) upon his arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

Sources informed Uptown Press that Soyinka was taken into custody on Sunday at approximately 5:40 a.m. after disembarking from a Virgin Atlantic flight originating from the United Kingdom.

As of now, the DSS has not provided any official rationale for Soyinka’s detention. Despite numerous attempts to contact him, Soyinka remains unresponsive, as calls and messages to his phone have gone unanswered. Notably, Soyinka also has a background as the former Pioneer Editor of the BBC Pidgin Service.
