Tragedy struck in Idumoza, Ebhoyi, Uromi in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State on Saturday morning as the owner of a collapsed hotel building, Mr Harrison Isesele, was found dead beneath the rubble.
The incident occurred when the hotel structure, reportedly still under construction, gave way and collapsed on Mr Isesele, trapping him beneath the debris.
Local residents and emergency responders reportedly discovered his lifeless body hours after the structure came down.
At the time of filing this report, the Edo State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident or the possible cause of the collapse.
The tragic development has left the Uromi community in mourning, with many calling for a thorough investigation to determine whether structural defects or negligence played a role in the collapse.
