The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a dramatic step to assert internal discipline, issuing a public disclaimer disowning eleven prominent figures — including former governors and senior party officials — who it says no longer have any affiliation with the party.
The statement, released after the party’s Elective National Convention held from 15 to 16 November in Ibadan, Oyo State, reaffirmed that all eleven individuals were formally expelled in accordance with the PDP constitution. Those listed include Ezenwo Wike, Samuel Anyanwu, Ayo Fayose, Umar Bature, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Mao Ohuabunwa, George Turnah, Dan Orbih, Austin Nwachukwu, Mon’d Abdulrahman and Abraham Amah.
According to the PDP leadership, none of the affected individuals is a member of the party nor holds any role within its organisational structure. It warned that any public pronouncements, political activities or representations made by them “should not, in any form, be construed as authorised by the PDP”.
In a further warning, the party cautioned the public and political stakeholders that anyone choosing to engage with the expelled members does so “entirely at their own risk”.
National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, who signed the notice, stressed the party’s renewed commitment to discipline, constitutional order and the ongoing repositioning of the PDP ahead of future political contests.
