Following the confirmation of Bola Tinubu as the President of Nigeria by the Supreme court, the President presided over the FEC meeting on Monday.
During the meeting, Tinubu took a few moments to sound a stern warning against unauthorized persons gaining access into the Council Chambers.
He expressed his concern on the matter and set the ground rules that would guide subsequent meetings, ensuring that the security of the Council Chambers is not compromised in any way.
Tinubu also expressed his confidence in his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajiabiamila, and urged everyone to stop all campaigns of calumny against him. He emphasized that any campaign of calumny or insinuation against him would not be tolerated.
Tinubu went on to state that he is ready to own up to his mistakes and that he is committed to fighting corruption with the help of everyone.
Furthermore, the Council gave a minute of silence for the former member of FEC and one-time Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Adamu Fika, who passed away last week at the age of 90 years.
The late Fika served the country with distinction and the Council paid their respects to him.
The meeting also went into a closed-door session, which was attended by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan; Chief of Staff to the President, Honourable Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and all the ministers.
The closed-door session provided an opportunity for the Council to discuss various national issues, including security, the economy, and other matters of national interest.
