Court Jails Man For Spraying Money At Burial Party In Edo

A man named Osazee Kenneth Imagbenikaro has been sentenced to jail for spraying money at a burial party in Edo.
The Federal High Court in Benin City found Imagbenikaro guilty on two counts of spraying money, which is against the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007. The incident took place at Ogida Police Barracks in Benin City on April 28, 2023.
One of the counts reads: That you Osazee Kenneth Imagbenikoro (m) on or about the 28th day of April 2023 at Ogida Police Barracks, Benin City, Edo State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did spray N100 notes at a burial party and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 21 (3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment ) Act 2007 and punishable under Section 21 (1) of the same Act.”
Imagbenikaro pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to six months in prison for each count or a fine of N100,000 each.
Additionally, he has been required to provide a written undertaking to be of good behavior in the future. The defense counsel asked for leniency, stating that the defendant is remorseful for his actions.
