Edo State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Tony Aziegbemi weekend, hosted party members from the ten wards in Esan South East Local Government Area of the State, to a thank you party, at his residence in Emu kingdom also in the council area.
This is the first public meeting organized by the party since after the February 25 and March 18 general election. In his welcome address, he expressed profound gratitude to the elated members for the overwhelming victory recorded by the party during the state assembly election in Esan South East Local Government.
Dr. Aziegbemi, disclosed that the party has officially pardoned members of the party involved in anti party activities during the last elections. He said the party leadership has decided to bring together all PDP members in the state to form a formidable party, to lead Edo State with the governor just as is being experience now in the state.
The state PDP chairman, further disclosed to the Members and leaders in the LGA, including Hon. Sunday Osezua Ojiezele, the Member-elect in the state assembly, that the party leadership would soon come up with the best decision on how the next speaker of Edo State House of Assembly will emerge.
Aziegbemi, in his words said, “For me as the state chairman, I am offering a blanket armnesty to all members of the party who did wrong during the elections. So that everything that was done before now is gone. All what had happened, had happened and it is gone. Let us come together to build this party to what it was before, where all of us were together.
“There really wasn’t a quarrel. It was just contestation for power, and it is expected. There is nothing wrong with that, and we are not holding any grudges against anybody. “PDP is your home. For what ever reason you left, I am saying come back. We will welcome you with open arms.
On the decision of the party over the next speaker of the state assembly, he simply has this to say, “This party (PDP) under the leadership of the governor believes in justice and fair play. I strongly believe that when the time comes to choose, the leadership will meet and look at the issues and I believe the best decision will be made.” He concluded.
