The authorities at Dowen College have a lot more to tell the general public as far as the death of this innocent child is concerned because these burns and blisters on Sylverster’s mouth cannot possibly be from playing football. No child plays football with their mouths.
Parents/guardians of other wards who are students of Dowen College must come out en masse to demand explanation from the school authorities as no child is safe in that college if the mystery surrounding the death of this poor innocent child is not unravelled.
The Lagos state Ministry of Education must understand that it is on trial in the court of public opinion as far as this unfortunate incident is concerned. The government has a duty to prove to Lagosians that there are no sacred cows by thoroughly investigating the Dowen College saga and ensuring that whoever that is found culpable is brought to book no matter whose Ox is gored.
Let no one be deceived, there are many Dowen College scenarios across the country where children of the rich, high and mighty act with utmost impunity. The manace of teenage cultism is real and must be nipped in the bud NOW. There are countless private schools where the management dare not prescribe disciplinary measures for infractions committed by erring students for fear of losing the patronage of their parents or in some cases, for fear of being scapegoated for having the audicity to challenge Oga’s child. We cannot pretend or continue to live in denial.
Just when we are yet to recover from the Deeper Life College child molestation saga, now this! Every well meaning Nigerian must speak out, otherwise this shall soon become a trend. Now is the time to confront this evil as tomorrow is already too late!
