The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Dr. Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor as the Director-General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency (ESDA).
Her appointment was confirmed in an official letter dated 10 March 2025, signed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., Secretary to the State Government.
Dr. Ogboro-Okor, a distinguished medical professional and humanitarian, is a UK-trained Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with expertise in medical simulation. She is also a prolific writer and a recognised Global Goodwill and United Nations Eminent Ambassador.
She holds degrees from the University of Benin, the University of Edinburgh, and Sheffield Hallam University, where she is currently pursuing a PhD in Law and Criminology, focusing on illegal migration, human trafficking, and modern slavery.
Beyond her medical and academic achievements, Dr. Ogboro-Okor has been actively involved in Edo State’s diaspora affairs, leading both the Edo Diaspora Working Group and the Edo State Focus Group Worldwide. She also previously contested as the sole female aspirant in the 2024 Edo governorship election and serves as President of the University of Benin Alumni Association UK.
Her appointment is expected to strengthen Edo State’s engagement with its diaspora community, fostering collaboration and development opportunities for the State.
