The Edo Volunteers Voters Assembly (EVVA) has officially initiated a comprehensive campaign across the State in support of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates, Dr. Asue Ighodalo and Barrister Osarodion Ogie.
The campaign kicked off on Tuesday with a massive rally in Benin City, temporarily pausing commercial activities as a vibrant crowd of supporters joined in a festive march known as the ‘Benin City Umbrella Storm.’
The enthusiasm displayed by the supporters highlighted the strong backing for the PDP gubernatorial candidate.
Comprising members from diverse backgrounds, EVVA is a grassroots voter mobilization body that primarily focuses on youth and women.
The organization’s mission includes aggressive voter education, community mobilization, and citizen engagement.
Comrade Austin Osakue, a rights activist and Executive Director of the Foundation for Good Governance and Social Change, as well as President of the African Forum for Advocacy and Citizens Engagement (AFACE), delivered a passionate speech at the rally.
He stressed the importance of supporting the PDP candidate, emphasizing the need for competent leadership in Edo State.
Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, also addressed the crowd, urging citizens and residents to elect a capable Governor who can sustain the State’s developmental progress. He expressed confidence in securing victory in the upcoming election.
