A member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Dr Edosa Richard, representing Oredo West Constituency, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the G.R.A Youth Organisation in recognition of his cross-community leadership and sustained commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots development.
The award was presented at the organisation’s annual carnival, where Dr Richard described the honour as humbling and reflective of collective effort rather than personal achievement.
Although elected to represent Oredo West, Dr Richard highlighted his enduring ties to Oredo East, stressing that both communities are socially and economically interconnected. He said this shared identity has continued to shape his approach to public service, with interventions deliberately designed to transcend political and geographical boundaries.
According to him, his legislative and community engagements have focused on youth empowerment, community-based projects and support programmes aimed at uplifting residents across Oredo West and Oredo East.
“This award is not about me alone,” Dr Richard said at the event. “It belongs to my team, our supporters and every young person who believes leadership should serve the people first. This recognition reflects our collective effort — the everyday work, quiet sacrifices and shared commitment to building a better Oredo.”
He reaffirmed his pledge to continue serving with compassion, fairness and vision, assuring constituents that inclusive development would remain central to his representation.
Dr Richard also expressed appreciation to the G.R.A Youth Organisation for the recognition and thanked the people of Oredo West and Oredo East for their trust and support, noting that unity remains key to sustained progress across the two communities.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to people-centred leadership, saying the journey towards a stronger and more inclusive Oredo would continue through shared purpose and collective action.
