The Ohen of Okhoromi, Igbinovia Ovbokhan Kelvin, has been taken into police custody in connection with a range of serious allegations, including attempted murder, assault, and involvement in cultism.
Kelvin, who holds the traditional title in the Okhoromi community within Oredo Local Government Area, was arrested on March 26, 2025, following a petition lodged with the Force Criminal Investigation Department of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja. The petition, submitted on February 25, 2025, outlined various charges against Kelvin, including attempted murder, assault, theft, criminal intimidation, cult activities, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, the arrest stems from a land dispute involving Kelvin, who is reportedly linked to notorious land-grabbing activities in Edo State. The petition alleges that Kelvin attempted to take the life of an individual over a contested plot of land, which was central to the accusations against him.
Further details surrounding Kelvin’s arrest, including the full extent of the charges and any developments in the investigation, are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
