The people of South-Ibie Kingdom in Etasako West Local Government have formally welcomed the newly posted Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ajah Anthony, during a special circuit meeting of the Edo Security Network held at the palace of the Aidonogie of South-Ibie.
The event brought together a wide range of traditional and security stakeholders in a show of unity and renewed commitment to safeguarding the community. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between the local police division, community leaders, and members of the Edo Security Network, with a shared resolve to boost intelligence-led policing and reinforce grassroots safety.
Present at the gathering were prominent figures from the South-Ibie traditional council, including the Chief Daudu of South-Ibie, Chief Iyamah, Chief Alhaji Abubakar Umoru Akokhia (Oduma of South-Ibie Kingdom), and the Palace Secretary, Mallam Abdul-Qadir Abdul-Ali, among other esteemed palace chiefs.
The palace reaffirmed its readiness to support the new DPO’s efforts and hailed the initiative as a significant step in strengthening security and preserving peace in the region.
Deliberations at the meeting centred on community policing, intelligence sharing, and early-response strategies to combat crime and social unrest. Speakers highlighted the need for continuous cooperation between security operatives and the local population to effectively tackle security threats and maintain public order.
Participants praised CSP Anthony’s pedigree and expressed optimism about his ability to build on the successes of his predecessor. Several speakers commended his proactive engagement with the community and pledged to provide the necessary support for him to succeed.
Stakeholders, including traditional chiefs and members of the Edo Security Network, reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to a secure South-Ibie, promising to work hand in hand with law enforcement and other security formations.
The event concluded with a symbolic handover and reaffirmation of the shared responsibility of protecting lives, property, and the cultural heritage of the kingdom.
CSP Anthony, in his brief remarks, thanked the community for the warm reception and vowed to serve with integrity, fairness, and dedication.
“Security is a shared responsibility. I believe that with your support and cooperation, we can build a peaceful and resilient South-Ibie,” he said.
