Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has officially inaugurated a 12-member planning committee for the State’s fourth Sports Festival, which will serve as a key preparatory event ahead of the National Sports Festival, set to be hosted by the Ogun State Government this May.

The newly formed committee will be chaired by Mr. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, with Sabina Chinkere Amiemoghena appointed as the committee’s secretary. The announcement was made in a statement by Friday Aghedo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor.

Speaking at the inauguration held at the Government House, Idahosa emphasised the importance of the sports festival as a key part of the state’s strategy to foster sports development at the grassroots level. He pointed out that sports competitions serve as a vital platform for identifying and nurturing athletic talent, while also promoting physical well-being among the population.
