Olumide Akpata, the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has emerged as the winner of the highly competitive Labour Party governorship primary election in Edo State. The election was held at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Airport Road in Benin City on Friday and Akpata secured a resounding victory by polling a total of 316 votes, beating other strong contenders for the ticket.
