The Edo State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Chief Marie Olabisi Idaomi, has called for a unified national framework to harmonise Federal and State-level humanitarian interventions, aiming to deliver greater socio-economic impact and close widening inequality gaps across Nigeria.
Chief Idaomi made the call during a high-profile visit to Hon. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru, Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Humanitarian Affairs, at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
The meeting, described as both intellectually charged and reform-focused, explored strategies to expand humanitarian diplomacy, enhance institutional synergy, and align fiscal and policy measures to strengthen Nigeria’s social protection systems.
In her remarks, Chief Idaomi underscored the need for coordinated governance, financial discipline, and innovation-driven planning as critical tools to fight deprivation and drive inclusive development.
Hon. Osawaru praised the Commissioner’s dynamic leadership and vision, applauding her efforts to elevate humanitarian administration and advance poverty reduction at both state and national levels.
The two leaders also discussed deepening collaboration between federal and state agencies, stressing the importance of technology, transparency, and accountability in humanitarian delivery.
The engagement signalled a renewed partnership between Edo State and the National Assembly—one aimed at fortifying Nigeria’s humanitarian architecture, promoting equity, and empowering the nation’s most vulnerable citizens.
