The Edo State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Bernard Joman Egwekhide, has congratulated Comrade Idahosa Bright on his nomination as the President of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation, describing it as a well-deserved honour for a dedicated sportsman.
In a statement on Sunday, Egwekhide said Bright’s elevation reflects the growing recognition of Edo coaches and administrators in national sports leadership.
“On behalf of the entire workers of the Edo State Government, I, Comrade Bernard Joman Egwekhide, the number one worker in Edo State, heartily congratulate Comrade Idahosa Bright on his nomination as President of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation,” he said. “My brother, may God bless you with the wisdom of King Solomon to lead the Federation and fulfil your heart’s desires.”
Egwekhide, who described the news as “sweet and progressive,” urged Edo sports coaches to seize the momentum and take active leadership roles within the nation’s sports community.
“It is our time and age to take charge and exercise authority,” he declared, encouraging his colleagues to look beyond the confines of the Sports Commission and aspire to greater heights in national sports administration.
He also extended congratulations to Comrade Jude Atoe on his emergence as the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Judo Federation, noting that both appointments underscore Edo State’s growing influence in Nigeria’s sporting landscape.
“We, the coaches of the Edo State Sports Commission, are proud of you both. Your achievements bring honour to the state and inspire the next generation of sports professionals,” he added.
The appointments of Idahosa Bright and Jude Atoe have been widely celebrated among the Edo sports community, marking another milestone in the State’s steady contribution to sports development and national representation.
