The lawmaker representing Oredo West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Dr Edosa Richard, has applauded health workers across Nigeria for their relentless efforts in keeping the country free from the wild poliovirus.

Dr Richard, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Health, gave the commendation during this year’s World Polio Day celebration. He praised the dedication and sacrifice of frontline health personnel, community volunteers, and development partners who have sustained the nation’s fight against polio.

He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to advancing immunisation and public health initiatives, stressing the need for continued vigilance to preserve the nation’s polio-free status.

“I remain committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen immunisation, promote public health, and safeguard the wellbeing of every child,” Dr Richard said. “Together, we can make polio history.”

The lawmaker, who doubles as the Deputy Chief Whip of the Assembly, urged all stakeholders to redouble efforts towards maintaining the gains of past campaigns, noting that sustained awareness and routine immunisation remain crucial to protecting future generations.
