Edo Lawmaker Hails Our Lady of Mercy at 50, Celebrates “Five Decades of Service and Impact”

Edo State lawmaker, Hon. Dr Richard Osaro Edosa, has hailed the Our Lady of Mercy Nursery/Basic School, Benin City, as a pillar of community growth and moral formation, as the institution celebrated its 50th anniversary at the weekend.

Dr Edosa, who represents Oredo West Constituency and serves as Deputy Chief Whip of the Edo State House of Assembly, joined staff, students, alumni, and the school leadership for the Golden Jubilee ceremony, describing the milestone as “a testament to fifty years of excellence, discipline, and service to humanity.”

The lawmaker praised the school’s enduring influence on generations, noting that institutions like Our Lady of Mercy (OLM) continue to play a vital role in shaping young minds with strong values and academic grounding. “Their contribution to our community cannot be overstated,” he said.

He extended special appreciation to the School Head, Rev. Sr. Mary O. Aisagbonhi, SSH, acknowledging her leadership and the warm reception accorded him by the OLM community during te celebration.

With the school entering its next half-century, Dr Edosa expressed optimism that OLM’s legacy would not only endure but deepen. “The next fifty years will be even greater,” he said, reaffirming the institution’s place in Edo’s educational and moral landscape.

As the jubilee festivities concluded, the celebration underscored the school’s lasting impact—an enduring reminder that strong educational foundations remain central to the state’s social and developmental progress.
