The leadership of Edo NUJ has issued a notice to the effect that cultists and other strange fellows have taken refuge in the stall of a tenant who earlier was issued a quit notice for exhibiting acts not in tandem with tenant/landlord agreement.
The notice reads: “It has come to the notice of the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council that, some persons, suspected to be cultists have in the past few days been parading the premises of the union’s Secretariat on No 1 Sir Gabriel Igbinedion Way, GRA, Benin City to hold secret meetings.
“These people, are being harboured by one of the tenants who provides her rented apartment in the premises as haven for them to gather and plan their nefarious activities.
“For the benefit of all stakeholders, the leadership of the union wants to make it clear that security agencies in the state have been alerted of the security threat such clandestine meetings pose to journalists and other stakeholders at the union secretariat.
“Besides, the leadership of the union will not hesitate to take any drastic action which in its judgement is reasonable to address the ugly trend.
“The leadership of the union hereby use this medium to request members of the union to report any suspicious movement in and around the premises of the secretariat to the Chairman or Secretary of the council for necessary action.”
