Edo Police Arrest Travel Agent Who Dupes Woman N11m

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 40-year-old travel agent who allegedly duped a woman of the sum of N11 million.
The suspect is said to have obtained the money from the victim under the pretense of procuring travel documents for her to travel to the USA. The suspect is currently in police custody and will face trial after an ongoing investigation into the case.

In addition to the travel agent, the police have also arrested 14 other suspects for various crimes in the state. Among the suspects are two siblings, Kasim Ajala, 35, and Jamiu Ajala, 29, who were arrested by operatives of the anti-kidnapping and cyber-crime unit. The siblings are accused of defrauding their victim under the pretense of supplying cocoa produce.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the command’s monitoring unit acted on credible information and intercepted a blue Toyota Sienna vehicle with registration number ACA 934 ZP. The vehicle was conveying weeds suspected to be Indian hemp from Lagos to Anambra State. The driver of the vehicle, Nwankwo Afamefuna, was arrested, and upon searching his vehicle, five bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were found. Afamefuna will soon be charged to court.

The police also arrested one Efosa Iyase, who confessed to being a member of a syndicate that specializes in burglary and stealing of properties in Benin City. The operatives of the command recovered items such as arms and ammunition, three laptops, 24 android phones, 11 Bolton phones, and one iPad phone, among others.
