As the 2027 general elections draw closer, one question looms large in Edo South: why change a winning team? Senator Neda Imasuen has proved beyond doubt that effective representation is possible when passion meets action. His record speaks volumes, and his return as a ranking senator is the surest way to guarantee even greater democratic dividends for the district.
From day one, Imasuen made youth empowerment his mission. He has facilitated more than 25 federal appointments, created small business support schemes, and opened pathways for skills training that have lifted many out of unemployment. Today, beneficiaries of his programmes are not just self-reliant, they are employers of labour, spreading the impact across communities.
On the legislative front, his performance has been outstanding. Imasuen sponsored a bill to establish a Federal College of Education in Abudu, pushing to bridge the shortage of teachers in Edo State, and led amendments to the Federal Medical Centres Act to improve health delivery nationwide. He has resolved over 26 public petitions, giving ordinary Nigerians justice in a way few lawmakers bother to attempt.
Education has been another hallmark of his service: 420 scholarships for higher education students, full scholarships for secondary school pupils, and JAMB registration support for hundreds of young people. His intervention in health, from free medical outreaches to equipping traditional birth attendants, continues to save lives across the district.
Infrastructure developments which include new roads, solar-powered streetlights, and community facilities have visibly changed Edo South’s landscape. His annual food distribution to widows, displaced persons, and the most vulnerable shows a lawmaker who has not lost touch with the needs of the grassroots.
Imasuen also stands tall as a defender of Edo’s cultural heritage, funding programmes that celebrate the Great Benin Kingdom while ensuring the girl-child is not left behind in education.
Political analysts agree that, his blend of lawmaking, grassroots empowerment, and philanthropy has set a new standard. “What distinguishes Senator Imasuen is his consistency,” observed Dr Amos Omoregie.
According to him: “Imasuen has built a profile that goes beyond politics into real development advocacy. Edo South would be unwise to trade that away.”
The choice before the people is clear. With Senator Imasuen poised to return as a ranking senator, Edo South will not just retain a strong voice in Abuja, it will secure even bigger opportunities, projects, and resources for the future.
“The future of Edo South lies in the hands of our young people,” Imasuen said recently. “Creating opportunities for them is not just a duty, but a necessity.” He added.
For Edo South, the path forward is obvious: keep the momentum, deepen the gains, and return Senator Neda Imasuen to the Senate.
