Edo State has taken a bold step in positioning itself as a prime investment destination with the successful outing at the recently concluded Edo State Global Investment Business Summit held in Glasgow, Scotland.
The summit, which was personally attended by the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, was aimed at showcasing the state’s economic potential, strengthening partnerships, and attracting foreign direct investment. The Governor’s presence was widely seen as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to driving development through global engagement.
Speaking at the event, Governor Okpebholo stressed the importance of creating new avenues for investment in Edo:
“Edo State is open for business. We are committed to providing a conducive environment where investors can thrive, while ensuring that our people benefit directly from the opportunities created.”
The delegation, coordinated by the Edo State Diaspora Agency under the leadership of Dr. Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, facilitated high-level engagements that led to the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). These agreements, according to organizers, cut across key sectors including agriculture, renewable energy, education, and infrastructure development.
Dr. Ogboro-Okor described the outcome as a landmark achievement for the state:
“This summit has fulfilled its objectives of connecting Edo State to global investors. The level of interest we received confirms that the world is ready to do business with Edo. We are determined to sustain this momentum.”
Participants at the summit expressed satisfaction with the networking opportunities and concrete results achieved. One international investor remarked:
“The Governor’s presence made all the difference. It showed seriousness, commitment, and readiness to follow through on partnerships. Edo State clearly stands out as a forward-looking destination.”
With the success of the Glasgow summit, Edo State has reaffirmed its place on the global investment map, signaling a new era of opportunities for its people both at home and in the diaspora.
