Edo University Iyamho has announced the elevation of nine distinguished members of its academic staff to senior professorial ranks, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s drive for academic excellence and scholarly recognition.
According to a statement released by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Amaechi Kelly Quincy, the promotions follow rigorous assessments and serve as a testament to the recipients’ unwavering dedication to research, teaching, and service within the academic community.
Six academics have been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor. They include Dr Ewomazino Akpor (Mass Communication), Dr Benjamin Olusola Abere (Economics), Dr Anthony Iyoha Emhenya (Political Science/Public Administration), Dr Izehiuwa G. Enato (Paediatrics), Dr Oseni Tijani Idris Ahmad (Family Medicine), and Dr (Mrs) C.A. Idaguko (Anatomy).
In addition, three scholars have been conferred the title of Professor. They are Prof A. E. Memudu (Anatomy), Prof Omosigho Omoruyi Pius (Medical Laboratory Science), and Engr. Prof Ugheoke Benjamin Iyenagbe (Mechanical Engineering).
The university’s management commended the newly promoted staff for their outstanding achievements, noting that their scholarly contributions have significantly enhanced both departmental development and the institution’s academic standing.
Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dawood O. Egbefo, extended heartfelt congratulations to the promoted academics, emphasising that the advancements are well-earned and reflect a strong commitment to intellectual leadership and professional growth.
“These promotions are not only individual accomplishments but also a reflection of the university’s core values of excellence, integrity, and innovation,” Prof Egbefo said. “We are confident that these scholars will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the future of education and research at Edo University.”
