The speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, has felicitated with Muslims in Edo State on the occasion of the Eid el-Kabir celebration, which holds today, 28th of June, 2023.
In a Special Sallah Message made available to Journalists in Benin City, the speaker wished the Muslims well, as they celebrate the Festival of Sacrifice and total obedience to Allah.
The Special Message Reads: “ Dear Muslim Ummah , permit me to specially congratulate and celebrate with the you on this year’s celebration, which is considered as an opportunity to remember the submission of Prophet Ibrahim, by showing example of total obedience and willingness to make sacrifice.
“This celebration reminds us of the value of unquestionable obedience and act of sacrifice.
“On this occasion, I urge you all to join and throw your weight behind the present administration, ably led by Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Executive Governor of Edo State.
“The giant strides of this administration have made the state attractive , safe and hospitable for everyone, irrespective of their religion, tribe or social background.
“In this season of sacrifice, I urge you to support and continue to offer prayers for the State and the nation at large.”
While assuring them of this administration’s commitment in ensuring peaceful coexistence of the people in the state, irrespective of religion, he said, “let us imbibe this lesson and make it a duty to sacrifice for others and to always remember the needy amongst us which is one of the principles or pillars of Islam, as selfishness and greed have no place in Islam.”
Eid el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to obey God by sacrificing his son and also, concludes the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, the Holy City in Saudi Arabia.
