Business Owners Association, Edo/Delta, has taken Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to the Federal High Court in Benin City over the recent hike in electricity tariffs.
The court has adjourned the case to July 24, 2024, to allow BEDC to respond to the request for a restriction on the implementation of the new tariff.
The Business Owners Association is concerned about the potential negative impact of the tariff increase on society, and they are urging all Nigerians to unite against it.
The chairman of the association, Mr. Egbe Omoregie emphasized that the effects of the tariff would be significant and urged everyone to join the effort to prevent BEDC from implementing it.
He said: ”We ask everyone to join in any way to ensure that the BEDC did not succeed in their evil plan to reap the people off”.
The proprietor of BIBI Hotels expressed concerns about the adverse effects of the tariff on both the poor and business owners.
