2023 General election

Aremiyau particularly hailed Buhari and the electoral umpire- the Independent National Electoral Commission for the introduction of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) which eliminated lots of irregularities in the electoral process.

He said: “I will praise the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for the successful conduct of the 2023 election. Nigeria is not perfect, but the electoral process has improved tremendously which is a pass mark for the present government especially the introduction of BVAS which was used during the election.

“You can see what happened recently in northern part of Nigeria. Before now, we used to have situation where they announced one million votes, but surprisingly you got to see two hundred thousand votes in the same locality. It actually showed the truth. You could see it yourself.”

He added that even incumbent governors who contested for re-election couldn’t manoeuvre the system to their advantage: “You see a sitting governor losing and an election because his money, government machieneries couldn’t be manipulated to work in their favour. So, if a sitting governor  is losing an election therefore, you should understand that Nigeria is improving electorally.”

He, therefore, called on other African leaders to emulate Buhari and improve on electoral procesess in their various countries.

Aremiyau admonished Muslims the world over to imbibe the culture of tolerance and peaceful co-existence to achieve development wherever they find themselves as there is no development in any place where there is no peace.

“We should respect other people’s religious disposition, respect their values. Don’t take Islam as if there is no other religion. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) during his time on earth respected other people’s religion. That is what brought people into this religion we are enjoying today.”
