The Federal High Court in Kano State has set a date, September 22, for the delivery of judgment in the case brought forward by former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, seeking to halt investigations by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission (PCACC).
According to Femi Falana (SAN), representing the Kano State anti-graft agency, Ganduje’s immunity ended on May 29 when he left office, making him ineligible for protection from any court within the country for himself, his family, or his cabinet.
However, counsel to the former governor argued that the proper due process was not being followed, and claimed that it constituted a violation of his client’s fundamental human rights.
The case revolves around controversial videos released in 2017 by the online news outlet Daily Nigerian, which allegedly showed Ganduje accepting contractor kickbacks.
The Kano PCACC is seeking to prosecute the All Progressives Congress chieftain based on these videos, but Ganduje maintains that the videos were manipulated and denies all accusations.
