The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the annual celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
This was revealed in a statement by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, delivered through Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior. The Minister extended warm congratulations to the Muslim Ummah both in Nigeria and abroad on this significant occasion.
In his message, Tunji-Ojo encouraged Muslims and all Nigerians to embrace the virtues of patience, sacrifice, and resilience, reflecting on these values during the celebrations. He emphasized that the period should be used for prayers, particularly for peace and the continued prosperity of the nation.
The Minister also urged citizens to embody the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, working together towards building a more peaceful and just society.
