In accordance with the vision of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to safeguard, conserve, and regenerate Edo State’s forests, the Chairman of the Edo State Forestry Commission, Hon. Valentine Asuen, undertook an inspection visit to Area BC 16/1 of the forest reserve in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State. The purpose of the visit was to monitor the maintenance, fire tracing, and beating up of plantations.
The inspection aimed to assess the upkeep of the forest plantations, evaluate the effectiveness of fire tracing and beating up practices, and examine the overall health and productivity of the forest ecosystem.
The inspection revealed that the commission’s proactive management practices are crucial to the long-term success, sustainability, and economic viability of the forest plantations. According to Hon. Asuen, these practices will mitigate threats, promote optimal growth, and contribute to a healthy and productive forest ecosystem.
