Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the President of the Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa, Olorogun Ese Kakor, over alleged forgery of official state government documents.

In a strongly worded statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the Governor urged the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, to take swift action to bring the NBM leader to justice.

According to the statement, Mr Kakor is accused of fraudulently forging government documents purporting to authorise him to render assistance to schools in the Edo South Senatorial District. Governor Okpebholo condemned the alleged action as “not only fraudulent but a direct assault on the integrity of the state’s administrative processes.”

The Governor alleged that the forgery was perpetrated in connivance with certain junior civil servants within the state’s bureaucracy, adding that these individuals have already been identified, arrested, and are currently under police investigation. He pledged that all those found to be complicit would face the full weight of the law.

“The act is criminal and deceitful,” the statement read. “This administration will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the state’s institutions through forgery or impersonation.”

In addition to the allegations of forgery, Governor Okpebholo announced the revocation of the land title on which the NBM’s headquarters in Edo State was constructed. He cited the organisation’s alleged involvement in violent crimes and other unlawful activities as justification for the revocation.

The Governor’s move comes amid growing concerns about the activities of organisations suspected to be fronts for criminal enterprises across Nigeria. He called on both the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS to intensify their efforts to dismantle such groups and ensure that those responsible for any criminal acts are apprehended and prosecuted.

“This government is committed to the rule of law and to protecting the integrity of public institutions,” Okpebholo added. “No individual or group, regardless of status or affiliation, will be allowed to undermine the peace and order of Edo State.”

As of press time, there has been no official response from Olorogun Ese Kakor or representatives of the Neo Black Movement regarding the allegations
