Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, redeploying key members of the State Executive Council in a move aimed at strengthening governance, improving service delivery and enhancing administrative efficiency.
The changes, announced in an official government statement on Thursday, include the appointment of a new Chief of Staff, alongside strategic redeployments across the Ministries of Lands and Housing, and Oil and Gas Resources.
Under the reshuffle, Barrister Vincent Osas Uwadiae, who served as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Lands and Housing as commissioner.
In a significant shift at the centre of government, Hon. Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, until now Commissioner for Lands and Housing, has been appointed Chief of Staff to the Governor, a role critical to policy coordination and day-to-day management of the governor’s office.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Chief of Staff, Hon. Gani Audu, has been nominated to return to the cabinet as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
The state government described the reshuffle as part of Governor Okpebholo’s ongoing efforts to recalibrate his administration for optimal performance, stressing that the changes are designed to place experienced hands where they can deliver maximum impact.
According to the statement, the governor is confident that the redeployments will “enhance coordination, policy implementation and effective governance” across the State.
The reshuffle will take effect from 30 January 2026, signalling an early administrative adjustment as the governor fine-tunes his team to meet the demands of governance.
The announcement was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, and comes amid broader expectations that the Okpebholo administration will continue to prioritise efficiency, accountability and results-driven leadership in Edo State.
