Gov. Okpebholo Urges Contractors to Complete Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi Road Repairs Before Rainy Season

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has instructed contractors responsible for the repairs of deteriorated sections of the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi highway to complete the on-going works before the arrival of the rainy season.

This directive was shared by Fred Itua, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary.

Governor Okpebholo, accompanied by his team, made a surprise stop at various locations along the highway while travelling towards Irrua in Esan Central Local Government Area. During the inspection, the Governor assessed the progress of the repairs and emphasised the urgency of expediting the work.

The repairs, which are part of an ongoing palliative project, are being managed by the Edo State Government to address the road’s long-standing issues. The Governor visited several trouble spots, including Ugha, Ehor, Ihie, Utene, Igieduma, and Okemuen communities, as well as other critical areas like Power Line off Ukhun Road, Eguare, and Okpoji junction.

At the Power Line section in Eguare, Ekpoma, where the road had previously been completely impassable, local residents expressed their gratitude for the repairs, noting that the work had effectively restored vital connectivity between the area and the rest of the State.

The Governor’s visit was warmly received at Okpoji junction, where a large crowd gathered to thank him for the improvements. They pledged their continued support for the Governor’s administration, recognising the positive impact of the project on their lives.

Christian Obi, a student from Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, praised the restoration work, particularly highlighting the significance of the repairs in ensuring that the area was no longer isolated.

Similarly, Mrs. Margaret Agbonzele, a resident at Okpoji junction, expressed her appreciation for the Governor’s commitment to addressing the road’s challenges. She emphasised that her vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Okpebholo had not been in vain and reaffirmed her support for the current government’s efforts to improve infrastructure in Edo State.
