Thousands of worshippers scamper for safety around 1PM during service when a 35-years-old woman entered Joel Osteen’s Lakewood church and opened fire, critically injuring a 5-year-old child and causing a non-life threatening leg wound on another man.
According Washington Post, the woman wielding a long gun is dead and the child who accompanied her is in critical condition after she walked into a famous Texas evangelical megachurch on Sunday afternoon in Houston and opened fire.
The woman, identified as Genesse Ivonne Moreno, 36, Uptown Press learned had a child with her, who was either 4 or 5 years old. “Free Palestine” was written on the stock of the weapon. The child was shot in the exchange of gunfire between the woman and the off-duty officers. The child was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The relationship between the child and the woman is unknown as of the time of this report.
Houston Police Chief, Troy Finner said: “Unfortunately, the 5-year-old kid was hit and is in critical condition at a local hospital. There was a 57-year-old man who didn’t have anything to do with it, I don’t think, who was shot in the leg. He’s seeking treatment in the hospital.”
