How 14-Yr-Old Housemaid Abducted 2-Yr-Old Boy From Lagos Church, Nabbed in Ogun

Police in Ogun State have foiled an alleged attempt by a 14-year-old teenage housemaid to escape with her mistress’s two-year-old son to the Southeast, after two weeks of the baby’s abduction in Lagos.

The suspect, Favour Iwuozor, was engaged as a housemaid to the victim’s mother, and was well known to everyone close to the family, a situation she allegedly leveraged on to beat security architecture of the family church, where she hoodwinked the boy’s Sunday School teacher on Sunday, December 19, 2021 and made away with the baby.

Favour, whose criminal act was widely reported on all media; print, radio, television and social media, was billed to take the baby to Imo State but was held back by paucity of cash, and resorted to alms begging.

In a press release issued by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Favour had told all that cared in the course of seeking financial assistance that the baby was her blood brother, and that their parents died in an auto crash in December, 2021.

Coupled with the boy’s sickly look, the narrative spurred one Mrs. Victoria Nwafor to compassionately take the duo from Yaba in Lagos State into custody in her Sagamu abode, Ogun State.

Mrs. Nwafor played the good Samaritan by taking good care of the duo, unknown to her that the teenage girl was a devil’s ‘disciple’, whose intention fell below expectation.

The lid, however, blew out of Mrs. Nwafor’s eyes and realized that Favour was making a move to escape with the baby to Imo State and promptly alerted the police at Sagamu Division.

“Upon the report, the DPO, CSP Okiki Agunbiade, detailed his detectives to Mrs. Nwafor’s house, where the baby and her abductor were invited to the station.

The good ‘Samaritan’ revealed to the police how she saw Favour begging for alms at Yaba area of Lagos State, with the baby, on December 22, 2021.

“On interrogation, Favour confessed that she was a maid to the abducted baby’s mother, and that she left with the boy since 19th of December 2021, with the intent of taking the boy to Amraku Umorsu in Isiala/Mbana Local Government Area of Imo state.

She stated further that, she took the baby from the church during Sunday school class, and since the Sunday school teacher knows her with the baby’s mother, she had no problem releasing the baby to her. She explained further that she decided to beg for alms in order to raise transport fare to Imo state”, the PPRO said.

To that effect, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the baby’s parents be contacted urgently. He also directed that the case be transferred to the Lagos State Police Command, where the crime was perpetrated.
