A group of protesters in Osogbo, Osun State, stripped down to their underwear on Monday as the nationwide hunger protest entered its fifth consecutive day.
The protesters, expressing their deep dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu, gathered at Freedom Park before marching through key areas of the city.
According to a report by Daily Trust, the demonstrators, who have been steadfast in their protest, are demanding immediate action from the president to address the widespread suffering and economic hardship in Nigeria.
The protest route included stops at Ajegunle, Olonkoro, Igbona, and Ayetoro, before concluding at Olaiya Intersection, where the protest leaders delivered impassioned speeches.
During the march, several protesters removed their clothes in a symbolic act of vulnerability and protest, voicing their disappointment with President Tinubu. They chanted slogans and carried placards that underscored their grievances, emphasizing that the current administration has failed to meet their basic needs and expectations.
“We are hungry and tired. Tinubu has disappointed us,” one protester lamented, encapsulating the sentiment of the crowd. The demonstrators made it clear that their protest would not cease until President Tinubu implements tangible measures to alleviate their suffering.
The nationwide hunger protest, which has seen significant participation across various states, reflects the growing unrest and dissatisfaction among Nigerians.
