Either at this time or in the days to come, Dr Alex Egbona says he will not and cannot afford to play politics when it comes to service delivery for the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency which he represents in the National Assembly.

Egbona, deputy chairman of the committee on petroleum downstream in the House of Representatives said at a meeting with stakeholders from Ekori, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State, that he was committed to doing all that would bring joy to the people.

Speaking specifically about the things he was able to attract from the federal government for Ekori people, Egbona said solar powered street lights, equipment and educational materials had been provided for the people of that area.

He said documentations for a housing scheme to be sited in Ekori were still being in progress and noted that when executed and completed, the civil servants from Ekori as well as those from other parts of the federal constituency will be able to have houses of their own.

The lawmaker also said before the end of the year, a solar powered water project would be available for the Ekori people. He said he was working hard to put smiles on the faces of Ekori and urged them to remain peaceful so that more projects can get to them.

Egbona also said a training on photographer, make-up and videography had earlier been organised by him for youths and women of Ekori indigene, as part of his efforts to empower the people.

He said it was necessary for Ekori people to support Abi to retain the House of Reps seat, knowing that Yakurr had occupied the seat from the beginning of the current democracy and retained it for 20 years.

He said he was offered the opportunity to contest the senate seat in 2023, but that he had to turn it down because of his commitment to support a Yakurr person from his party, the APC, to win the senate seat.

Some of the stakeholders at the meeting praised the legislator for his commitment towards the good of Ekori. They urged him to fight hard to ensure that a transformer gets to them, a request that Egbona said he would ensure is considered in this year’s budget.
