Abuja– The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has delivered a significant verdict, declining to disqualify Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, from contesting the upcoming September 21 governorship election in Edo State.
The court’s decision came in the case brought forward by Anslem Ojezua, a former PDP gubernatorial aspirant and ex-chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ojezua, who received zero votes in the primary election, had challenged the legitimacy of the process that resulted in Dr. Ighodalo’s candidacy.
In a detailed ruling, the court dismissed the case for lack of merit, affirming Dr. Ighodalo’s position as the PDP’s legitimate candidate for the Edo State governorship race. This verdict resolves all legal disputes surrounding Dr. Ighodalo’s candidacy, clearing the path for his participation in the election.
Dr. Ighodalo, who is currently on a European tour, is engaging with Edo State citizens about his recently released manifesto. The tour is part of his efforts to garner support and present his vision for the state’s future.
