Kenyans Edward, Kwanbuka Win 10th Okpekpe Road Race

Kenyans Pinqua Zakayo Edward and Gladys Kwanbuka emerged as the champions of the 10th Okpekpe International 10km Road Race.
Edward finished first in the men’s category with a time of 29.31 minutes, securing the top prize of $15,000. His compatriot, Isaac Kimpemboi, came in second with a time of 29.36 minutes, earning $8,000, while Alex Olotiptip claimed the third spot in 29.37 minutes and received $5,000.
The women’s race saw Gladys Kwanbuka leading the pack with a time of 33.05 minutes, followed by Regina Wambui in second place with a time of 33.38 minutes, and Sheila Cherotick in third place with a time of 34.27 minutes. Both male and female winners received the same prize money.
In the Nigerian category, Francis James Musa won in 30.46 minutes, earning half a million Naira, while Israel Sadjo, the defending champion, finished second in 31.51 minutes and received N300,000.
Dung Elijah Emmanuel secured the third position in 32.20 minutes, earning N200,000. The Nigerian women’s category was won by Patience Daylop Mwavwang, who defended her title in 37.07 minutes.
Yilmunen Nicholas Gokun and Blessing Shambo Solomon finished second and third, respectively.
