Concerns are mounting over the safety and well-being of Nigerian Juju music icon King Sunny Ade following alarming claims made by his daughter, Damilola Adeniyi, who fears her father may have been kidnapped or is under undue influence.
In a series of emotionally charged posts shared on her Instagram page over the past two days, Ms Adeniyi raised the alarm, alleging that the legendary musician is no longer in full control of his movements or finances. She expressed suspicions that certain individuals within his inner circle, including his manager, may be manipulating his affairs.
“I want the authorities to step in. I believe there is financial mismanagement happening, and my father’s welfare is at stake,” she wrote in one of the posts, which has since drawn widespread attention and concern on social media.
According to Ms Adeniyi, King Sunny Ade—born Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye—is allegedly being moved from place to place without proper oversight. She claimed there are indications of financial irregularities, such as unpaid hotel bills, suggesting that the 77-year-old musician may not be in control of decisions made in his name.
While the daughter did not provide concrete evidence to substantiate her claims, her appeal has struck a chord among fans and followers, many of whom are now calling on law enforcement agencies and cultural institutions to investigate the matter.
