Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed his strong approval of the recent appointments of the new Directors-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
The Governor described the selections as strategic and commendable, highlighting the experience and competence of the appointees.
On Monday, Governor AbdulRazaq particularly applauded the appointment of Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, a seasoned diplomat from Lafiagi in Kwara State, as the new Director-General of the NIA.
He noted that Ambassador Mohammed’s elevation to this critical role marks a significant chapter in the agency’s history, reflecting confidence in his capacity to lead with distinction. Before his appointment, Ambassador Mohammed was the head of Nigeria’s mission to Sudan.
The Governor also praised President Bola Tinubu for recognizing the capabilities of a Kwara-born diplomat, emphasizing that this decision underscores the President’s commitment to merit and regional inclusivity in key national security appointments.
In addition, Governor AbdulRazaq commended the appointment of Adeola Ajayi as the new Director-General of the DSS. Describing Ajayi as a seasoned senior operative with a track record of handling sensitive operations, the Governor expressed confidence in his ability to lead the DSS effectively.
Governor AbdulRazaq called on all stakeholders to support the new security chiefs as they assume their roles, emphasizing the importance of unity in achieving national security objectives.
He also offered prayers for divine guidance and wisdom for the new leaders in their efforts to enhance the country’s security architecture.
