A few days ago, students of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto were left in an arguable position, as to whether the school management has hiked the tuition fees or not. Their doubts were clear when the school released its fees schedule for the 2020/2021 academic session, but what actually causes hullabaloo among the Danfodites is being myopic over the reason behind the increment of the school fees, compared to other federal Universities like the University of Ilorin and Bayero University of Kano among others.
A couple of days ago, students actually lamented the increment of the school fees despite the current hardship situation of the country and its effect on the masses but the press members are taking their time in their publication due to the position that the school now categorises journalism on the campus.
Nevertheless, we students wish to stop merrymaking to this tune or dwelling in this stream in totality. I wonder why our school fees get increased every year when some of my friends at the University of Ilorin and Bayero University, of the same Federal owned, are paying less.
On this note, we urge the current Students’ Union caretaker committee chairman to, on behalf of the students, meet the legitimate authority in respect of this increment in school fees and help us take measures in reducing it to a more preferable and affordable amount.
