As Breast Cancer Awareness Month draws to a close, the Member representing Oredo West Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Health, Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Richard Osaro Edosa, has called for continuous vigilance and regular health checks to aid early detection and save lives.
Dr. Edosa reminded citizens that breast cancer remains treatable when identified early, stressing the importance of monthly self-examinations and routine medical screenings. He highlighted key warning signs such as lumps or swelling in the breast or underarm, changes in breast size or shape, nipple discharge or inversion, and unusual redness or dimpling of the skin.
“Awareness should not end with October,” he said. “We must continue to educate ourselves, encourage screening, and support those bravely fighting this disease. Early detection remains the most effective weapon against breast cancer.”
He urged women and men alike to take responsibility for their health, emphasising that breaking the silence and spreading awareness can help save countless lives.
