The Chairman of the Great GSM Village Association in Benin, Mr Odion Jerry Igbineweka, has issued a stern warning to Mr Michael Ojiezele, asking him to immediately cease parading himself as the Chairman of the association.

Mr Igbineweka, who addressed journalists in Benin following a recent event at the GSM Village, described Mr Ojiezele’s actions as misleading and unacceptable. The event in question involved the high-profile visit of Nigerian socialite and entrepreneur, Obinna “Obi” Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, who was reportedly hosted by Mr Ojiezele under the guise of being the village chairman.

Clarifying the matter, Mr Igbineweka said: “I have no issue with Obi Cubana’s visit. My concern lies with the person who invited him and falsely introduced himself as the chairman. Michael Ojiezele is not the chairman of the Great GSM Village — I am.”

He stressed that a formal election was conducted earlier this year, during which he was duly elected and sworn in as the legitimate chairman of the association. According to him, the association operates with a clear structure and there is no room for factions or impersonation.

Describing Mr Ojiezele’s actions as a criminal misrepresentation, Mr Igbineweka said the association’s members are peace-loving and law-abiding individuals who do not wish to take the law into their own hands, despite their frustrations over the situation.

He therefore urged security agencies in the State to intervene and take necessary steps to restrain Mr Ojiezele from further misleading the public.

“There must be order and respect for constituted authority. I call on security operatives to investigate this matter and call him to order before things get out of hand,” Igbineweka concluded.

The leadership of the Great GSM Village Association remains firm that there is no ambiguity about who holds the chairmanship, reiterating that the association stands united under Mr Igbineweka’s leadership.
