The Chairman of the Labour Party in Edo State, Hon. Elizabeth Ativie, has officially inaugurated the executive members of Ikpoba-Okha, Egor, and Ovia North-East Local Government Areas, during a ceremony held at the party’s State office in Ogbelaka, Benin City. This marks a significant step in the party’s on-going efforts to strengthen its presence across the State.
Ativie stressed the importance of grassroots engagement in the party’s bid to achieve its ambitious goal of 20 million members nationwide. She tasked the newly inaugurated executives with leading efforts to mobilize and recruit new members, fostering unity and growth within their respective localities.
This latest inauguration brings the total number of local government executives inaugurated to four, following the swearing-in of the Oredo executives earlier in the week. The full process is expected to be completed within the next two weeks, according to Ativie.
Speaking at the event, Ativie highlighted that the ongoing exercises were part of the party’s preparations for key upcoming congresses. These include the ward congress scheduled for February 2025 and the local government congress in April 2025. She stressed that the efforts would pave the way for a robust party structure, vital for success in future elections.
Ativie also appealed to the new executives to ensure a welcoming environment for returnees, encouraging them to integrate former members and make them feel at home within the party. She noted that the Labour Party remains the most popular political platform in Nigeria, and urged all members to work diligently to elevate the party to new heights.
In her closing remarks, Ativie reiterated the significance of collective effort, urging members to stay committed to the party’s vision and mission. With this series of inaugurations, the Labour Party in Edo is gearing up for a strong campaign, aiming to expand its reach and influence across the state and the country.
