A man in Pakistan has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting the administrator of a WhatsApp group who had removed him from the chat, police confirmed on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, was killed on Thursday evening in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, an area with a long history of sectarian violence.

According to police documents seen by AFP, a man known only as Ashfaq has been accused of carrying out the fatal attack. Mushtaq’s brother claimed in a statement that the dispute began when Ashfaq was removed from the online group following an argument. Both men later agreed to meet in person to settle their differences. However, it is alleged that Ashfaq arrived armed and shot Mushtaq dead.
