As unfortunate as it is, this Road is the major road connecting the Oil bearing Local Government, Ohaji/Egbema, in Imo State.
The State has only two local Governments that produce Oil, Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta. Unlike most communities in Imo State, the communities in these Oil Producing Areas are the most undeveloped due to many years of neglect from both the Government and the Oil Companies. Ever heard of the famous Adapalm? It is located in Ohaji/Egbema, but there is no access load leading to the Palm Plantation.
You can hardly see government presence in these Oil Producing Communities; the roads are impassable, 80% of the communities have never seen Electricity aside Generator light, the School are dilapidated, no Hospital etc.
Now let me shock Nigerians, it was this same Local Government, Ohaji/Egbema, that the Buhari led government officially Commissioned the first Modular Refinery in Nigeria, Waltersmith Modular Refinery. Same in this Council Area, many Oil Companies led by Seplat/Shell, are building one of the biggest Gas Plant in Africa.
This Local Government, where the roads are death trap is home to many International Oil Companies; Shell BP/Nigeria, Waltersmith Modular Refinery, Waltersmith Petroman, Adax, Agip, and other private owned Oil Companies.
Can you all see, the Goose that lays the Golden egg, has been left to starve to death.
